Summer Horse Camp - 1 Day CampSports & Recreation1 DAY SUMMER CAMP This camp is for kiddos to spend time at a barn with hands-on learning experiences. They will get to spend time with horses, goats, and chickens. They will learn how to care for all the animals at our barn as well as learn how to groom horses, learn about horse tack, and ride. We do require an ASTM/SEI certified equestrian riding helmet to be worn during all riding lessons. A liability waiver will also have to be signed before attending horse camp. Parents will drop off at 10:30am and pick up at 2:30pm. Please note that parents do not stay at the camp. Your children are in good hands and I know it's difficult to drop your kiddo off and leave but please know that the children tend to do better and learn more when they can focus on what they're being taught and not on their parents. We will take lots of photos so you will get to see their exciting day! Here are some of the things your child will be doing: FARM CHORES: They will learn how to clean horse stalls, fill hay nets, and prepare grain & supplements for each horse. They will also learn to take care of the goats and chickens. GROOMING: They will learn how to use each grooming tool as well as how to pick up horse's feet and clean them. They will be taught the reasons why grooming is so important. BASIC CARE: They will learn about feed and nutrition, as well as how much a horse eats, how we keep them healthy, and what to look for when horses are not feeling well. RIDING: They will learn how to tack up a horse, what all the tack is called, safety on and off a horse, how to make a horse go, stop, turn, and back up. Older kiddos will learn how to ride over and around obstacles and will also be able to trail ride around the property.
